A Squashy Hat

This is my last hat of the month.

Unfortunately this one isnt as happy making as the others.

Originally I made this hat using the Oliver Beanie hat pattern by Jessica Carey. However, what I ended up with is so far from the origin.

Now let me just note, the pattern is wonderful. Well wrippen and well discribed. But when I made it I was tired and so I misunderstood the pattern. And the choice of yarn wasnt good either. As a boucle it didnt move in the same way as a normal super chunky yarn would. The twirlyness of it made it really hard to see anything. So when it came to putting the brim on it just looked messy so I gave up on the ribbing and just added a row of sc just to straighten it all up.

Dont get me wrong, its still a perfectly useable hat, It is just a little dissapointing when things dont go to plan. I will definately be revisiting this pattern when I have found a more suitable yarn.

As an extra note, I think I like this hat better with a furry pom! What do you think?
